See note on classical travel time velocity: by extending ClassicalTravelTimeVelocity with a wave type, ClassicalTraveltimeVelocityData would inherit that one from its parent, rather than implicitly referring to shear waves only.<<br>> PhilippKästli, 2015-05-20

Currently, classical travel time velocity implies shear wave velocity. I propose to extend the entity by a <wavetype> attribute, taking "P" for pressure waves, and "S" for shear waves.

Discussion area: please fill in your comments below (between the horizontal lines) and tag with your user name and the date of your comment.
Example: FabianEuchner, 2014-10-21

In first terms, one would expect ordinal numbers. However, there is a debate on

  • numbering: first, second, third vs. fundamental, first upper, second upper
  • on how to express uncertainty: the mode may be unknown, or it may be known that it is not the fundamental node (but unknown which upper mode).

Thus, a textual description is the currently lowest common ground.<<br>> PhilippKästli, 2014-10-21
